Harvest Monday

Sorry I have been away for a bit and the blog has fallen silent. I spent Christmas in Adelaide with the folks, and have begun the new year by getting on with the thesis (which is due in August.) Despite the business the garden has not been neglected and it has been awash with a bountiful harvest. Wild strawberries, sweet corn, zucchinis, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, eggplants, a pumpkin and more. They helped make new years eve a tasty evening and continue to keep me eating healthily. Problem is, you will just have to imagine them, because my camera cord has gone AWOL! If it reappears I'll add some photos, but for now here are some oldies to represent the harvest.

So nice to know that somewhere in the world, someone is harvesting something. My gardens are totally Winter White and we are harvesting snowflakes today.

Corn must be hard in your little garden. Do you hand pollinate it?

Congratulations on being included in the Urban Farmer Top 50! I've been on the lookout for container gardens, since I live in an apartment with an apx. 8x25 concrete patio. You've done it on your balcony, there's no reason I can't do it on my patio. I live in central Florida so have no excuse for not growing something to eat year round. Will be back to read more of your older posts...Theanne

Meredehuit - enjoy the lovely snow (even if it means no harvests)

Daphne - totally hand pollinated, in various manners. Worked a treat. Just planted another 12 ears to see if they will grow before winter

Theanne - oh wow, I better check that out. Good luck making a patio garden, I am sure you can do it. You'd certainly have the weather for it.
