Before we hit crazy cuke land let's remember what a normal one looks like. This is a usual bush cucumber that I grow.
And here are three of a normal variety that I also grow.
And now there is one crazy cuke - my lovely piggy tail cucumber. Here he is growing, just to prove there was no tampering. His uniqueness was just mother nature having a giggle.
And then, finally, I picked him.
He was enjoyed in a salad both last night and today. Inside him was a sweet and slightly oversized-seed-filled centre, no different to the straight cukes. I love mother nature's little oddities. Any random growings in your gardens this year?

Nothing as cute as that cuke! It is fun to see the freaky veggies from the garden - something you'll never see in the beauty contest at the grocery store. (funny, the word verification is an anagram of mutant)
adorable and delicious, how can you go wrong?
thanks mother nature!
Looks like the cukes are doing well for you, weird looking or not :-) Do you ever see Finger Limes there in Australia? I saw them on a show last night and I guess they come from your part of the work. They look cool, I was wondering about their taste?
Cucumbers does give something fun to look at sometime. Good luck with your thesis writing. Hopefully I can start with mine after middle of this year.
Whoa! Mother Nature always has ways to surprise and delight us. I love cucumbers. Plan to grow them this year. I love sliced cucumbers with salt and powdered red chilli sprayed on them. Mmmm... My mouth's watering by the very thought of it!
I can't WAIT to get my cukes going. Wait...didn't I say that last year? LOL Glad to see things are going well in your garden :)
